Hi to all players of traditional Irish music,
The Ceol Aneas committee is really excited to present a fantastic line up of tutors this year and would like to make sure everyone knows about it.
Ceol Aneas traditional Irish music workshops and festival runs over the Queen's Birthday holiday weekend from Friday 1st to Monday 4th June. Run in much the same as summer schools in Ireland, this is a great few days of full on Irish music.
Ceol Aneas 2012 tutors are:
Flute - Conal O'Grada (Ireland - flute god!)
Free Reed - Benny McCarthy (of the band Danu)
Fiddle - Louise Phelan (Ireland currently teaching in Sydney)
Banjo / Mandolin - Cliodhna Costello (Ireland)
Guitar - Jon Sanders (Ireland / NZ)
Whistle - Alex Davidson (NZ)
Harp - Anna Dunnwoodie (NZ)
This is a line up of mighty players and we are really buzzing about the weekend already. Conal O'Grada and Benny McCarthy are making the trip exclusively to New Zealand for the Ceol. Ceol Aneas would like to acknowledge the assistance of Culture Ireland in bringing Conal and Benny to New Zealand.
Please pass the word around to anyone you think might be interested.
Earlybird student registrations are $130 and close at the end of April, after that the registrations will be $150. Children are half price.
If you are not a player of Irish music but love it, then there is lots for you too - there is a Ceili on the Saturday night, a Concert featuring all tutors on Sunday and sessions leading onto the small hours.
You can find out more at www.irishmusic.org.nz We have a new website - thanks to Brendyn and the team at Avoca House Design.
