Hmmm .. . got me wondering here. . . .we (Titirangi Folk Club) had Andy as guest a while ago and a whole 20 or so people turned up . . .now, was it a case of: (a) He is not well known locally, (b) people are jaded folkies (c) he ain't that relevant to the modern audience (d) dunno?
We lost money but that isn't what concerns me . . . he should have been much better patronised.
Would Joni Mitchell have been more successful? Neil Young? Planxty?
ps . .not that any of those would do tiny spots in Auckland! hahahaha! Except Neil . . .
Subject: [Nz-folk] Andy Irvine mini tour (Christchurch & Dunedin)
Andy Irvine is now on holiday in NZ and doing three concerts here - he kicked off with a great gig to a full house at Lepperton Bowling Club in Taranaki last night.
He's also playing in Blenheim on Saturday 23 February and Christchurch on Sunday 24 February.
Catch him if you can - he's in great musical form on guitar-bouzouki and mandolin, and as funny and enjoyable a performer as ever.
